Artist Bio:
Donna DeLorenzo is a multi-media artist whose abstract works include figurative drawings, daily
doodle diaries, illustrations, paintings and collages. Through each of her creations, Donna is not
only telling stories about the world around us, but capturing the emotions the world’s events have
on those around us. Whether it’s the outbreak of war playing out on the nightly news or a
passage from a provocative book or the sweet song of a bird, Donna finds inspiration everywhere
and is passionate about expressing it.
“I cannot not create,” she says. “From the moment I wake up to the time I rest my head, I am
drawing, doodling, scribbling, coloring like a child at play.”

Indeed, while many of Donna’s figurative works and sketches may appear simple and child-like,
they are packed with complexity. Figures captive inside bottles, bodies entwined in chains of
words, heads filled with brilliant explosions of color, these are all the result of an artist listening
and paying attention to what is happening every day.
“Every single day starts with a pen or pencil in my hand. And no matter what else I am doing at
the time, my hand is always drawing. It’s as basic as breathing.”
Her larger works include her “Dough Boy” series of paintings, inspired by a Walt Whitman
poem, A Child Went Forth, about how every child goes out into the world and whatever it sees
becomes a part of it. Influenced by Jasper Johns’ flag series, Donna created a template of a child,
her dough boy, as a vehicle to capture and tell different stories through the markings and images
on its body. This powerful series tackles everything from religion to race to relationships.
In spite of a successful lifelong career in marketing, designing and traveling internationally for
major businesses, Donna has always required an outlet to express her artistic, creative soul
within. Wherever life takes her, from New York City to Budapest, and Rome to St. Augustine,
Donna always takes her pencil and pad.

“If I didn’t create, I’d probably do a lot of drugs. Art is my drug of choice. It is what fulfills me,
what brings me joy and feeds my soul.”
Her artwork has been exhibited at (some names here) and she continues to engage with fellow
artists through (name some studios or retreats). You can see Donna’s current work at (website)
